Things balance out

One the one hand, I just learned that one of my favorite uncles passed away today. Uncle Max was rather old (heck, I’m 60 and he’s my Uncle - just do the math) and has been dealing with cancer for awhile, so his passing doesn’t come as a shock. He lived a good, successful life and had time to enjoy a long, happy retirement in Florida. I’m sure all his affairs were in order. Still, the death of a relative never comes as the happiest of news.

But on the other hand, A very dear friend from my past, a woman from whom I’ve not heard in years, has just sent me a “friend request” on FaceBook. Having her back in my Internet life gives me a sense of happiness and satisfaction that I’ve been sorely missing.

Things do tend to balance out, don’t they?
